Sorry for the cringe title, but we couldn’t help ourselves. We love hotdogs and were excited to see a variety of offerings at the Flavors of America booth in the America Pavilion at Epcot. This is one of those rare occasions where the Jotters got to the park and agreed on what to eat. And during a festival with plenty of new dishes, no less!
New for the International Food and Wine Festival, these all beef hotdogs come in several configurations.
- New York-Style: served with sauerkraut, onion-tomato sauce, and spicy mustard on a brioche bun
- Chicago-Style: served with tomato, dill pickle, diced onions, yellow mustard, and Chicago green relish on a poppy seed bun
- Carolina-Style: wrapped in bacon served with chili, coleslaw, and yellow mustard on a brioche bun
- Southwest-Style: served with pinto beans, tomatoes, jalapenos, avocado crema, and queso fresco on a french roll
Since our stomachs are only so big, we agreed to each get one and share it (we ate them while waiting in line for the tiramisu funnel cake, review here). The two we picked were the Chicago-style and southwest-style.
Both were great, and very challenging to eat without making a mess. The Chicago dog had a fresh vibe and sharpness from the onions and mustard. The southwest dog was on the heavier side, but savory and delicious. Of course, we each preferred the one we picked, but agreed that there was no wrong choice. We hope to try the Carolina and New York styles soon.
If you’re planning to try them out, the Flavors of America booth is open from 11 am to 9 pm. The festival ends November 23rd.
